One labourer died and 30 others were hospitalised after they inhaled poisonous ammonia gas which got leaked in a dairy in Bihar's Hajipur on Saturday. As per the fire department, several fire tenders rushed to the spot after receiving the information. The situation is under control now, as per a police official. The cause of the leakage is yet to be ascertained.


Ashok Kumar, Deputy superintendent of police (DSP), Fire Department while talking to news agency ANI on the matter said, "We got information that there was an incident of gas leakage from an ammonium cylinder in Raj Fresh Dairy [in Hajipur]. Several fire tenders have reached the spot. As of now, we have information that some labourers have been admitted to a hospital. We are investigating the cause of the leakage. The situation is under control now."


The survivors have been admitted to the Hajipur Sadar Hospital. Dr Shyam Nandan Prasad, Civil Surgeon, Hajipur Sadar Hospital informed, "One labourer dead and around 30-35 others are undergoing treatment at Hajipur Sadar Hospital after a poisonous gas leaked from an ammonium cylinder in Raj Fresh Dairy in Vaishali district. The patients admitted are currently stable." Further details on the matter are awaited.


In another incident, a suspicious blast in Bihar's Bhagalpur area led to the death of one and left three others injured on Saturday. A police official while talking to news agency ANI said that they got the information about a cylinder blast in the Babarganj Police Station area in the evening. Fire Brigade, State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) reached the spot. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bhagalpur, Anand Kumar added that the process of debris clearance is underway and the cause of the blast is yet to be ascertained.
