New Delhi: BJP MLA Suryabanshi Suraj on Thursday alleged that workers of BJD workers were responsible for the attack on the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra vehicle in Odisha's Dhamnagar area on Wednesday.
He alleged that the workers also damaged the cutouts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"PM Modi has started it with the motive to reach poor people. When this program was going on in my constituency and hundreds of people were gathered...It was a government program, at that time 5-6 workers of BJD damaged the cutouts of PM Modi and vandalised the vehicle," the BJP MLA from Dhamnagar said.
On Wednesday, a Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra vehicle, meant to showcase the success of the Modi government’s schemes, was vandalised by miscreants in Odisha’s Bhadrak district.
The incident took place in Dhamnagar around 11 am when BJP supporters led by party MLA Suryabanshi Suraj were conducting a public programme, officials said.
Suraj staged a dharna in front of Dhamnagar police station, demanding action against the BJD party workers.
Taking to platform X, Suraj said, “This reprehensible act appears to be a meticulously planned conspiracy by the BJD party. Targeting the central government’s initiatives reflects a lack of appreciation for the greater good and welfare of the people."
He alleged that BJD members also created chaos during a medical checkup for women.
“The unsettling incident that transpired today is unfortunate. It is disheartening to observe that the party seems unwilling to acknowledge the fact that the Modi government is effectively extending its reach to all eligible beneficiaries in the state,” he said.
