North India Sees Multiple Fog-Related Accidents As Cold Wave Grips Delhi And Neighbouring States. Key Points

New Delhi: The north of India was enveloped in the bitter cold, and dense fog caused a number of accidents that resulted in three fatalities and forty injuries in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, as well as a change in school hours in Punjab on Tuesday, reported news agency PTI. For the second morning in a row on Tuesday, the Indo-Gangetic plains, including Delhi, were enveloped in dense to very dense fog, reducing visibility in the city to 50 meters and affecting train and road traffic.

An airport official stated that flight operations in the national capital were unaffected. 11 trains were reported to be running one to five hours late on Tuesday.

An IMD official stated that visibility decreased to 50 meters at Delhi's Palam and Safdarjung airports between 5.30 and 7 a.m.

Delhi's primary weather station, Safdarjung Observatory, recorded a minimum temperature of 6.3 degrees Celsius, two notches below average. The greatest temperature is probably going to settle around 22 degrees Celsius.

In the coming days, Delhi's minimum and maximum temperatures are likely to fall to five degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Here are a few fog-related accidents, in which vehicles crashed into each other. 

- According to police, a bus and a truck collided on the Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida, causing poor visibility and 24 injuries. Abhishek Verma, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Greater Noida), stated that the accident occurred in the Dankaur neighborhood around 6:00 in the morning. He claimed that when the bus abruptly stopped ahead of a container truck, the bus collided with it and then struck the expressway railing.

- According to police, a truck carrying lentils overturned in the Dadri area of Greater Noida after hitting the highway divider.

- According to police, a pile-up involving several vehicles on the Bulandshahr-Aligarh road in Arnia resulted in the death of a truck driver in Bulandshahr and the injuries of six others.

- After one of the mini-truck's tires burst, the driver lost control of the vehicle around 6 a.m. According to Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Bajrang Bali Chaurasia, a roadways bus, a truck, and a few small vehicles behind the mini-truck collided as a result.

- Two of the harmed are going through treatment in Aligarh and Bulandshahr, the ASP said, adding a couple of other people who supported minor wounds went on with their forward venture.

- According to police, Nitish, 25, and his friend were traveling in Kaushambi on a motorcycle when, due to poor visibility, their two-wheeler struck a stationary truck near the Sayara overbridge on the Prayagraj-Kanpur road around 9 a.m. They stated that while Nitish's friend was referred to SRN Hospital in Prayagraj in critical condition, Nitish passed away in the accident.

- Due to poor visibility, a van in Sitapur collided with a stationary truck, causing eight injuries. Four passengers sustained serious injuries in an accident near Kalli village in the Misrikh police station area, according to the police.
