Alwar Mob Lynching: A case of mob lynching has come to light in Rajasthan’s Alwar where a youth was beaten to death while two others were injured on suspicion of chopping wood. According to PTI, the deceased has been identified as 27-year-old Wasim. Police said that villagers called forest officers when they saw the youths in the area have come to cut wood. The night duty officers tried to stop the car of the three youths after which a fight broke out, police said, adding that ten persons have been taken into custody so far.
"We got the information that some youths went to the forest to cut wood and the forest officers who were on night duty were following them in a car. The villagers who are known to the forest officer called him and asked him to stop the vehicle of the youth and during interception, a fight broke out and one injured youth died during treatment...FIR has been registered and around 10 people have been taken into custody, interrogation is underway," said Ranjeeta Sharma, SP, Kotputli-Behror.
Meanwhile, as per PTI, a relative said Wasim along with two other youths had gone to cut trees outside a house with the consent of the landlord. He said they were about to take the wood when someone informed them that the forest department team is roaming in the area and that if the wood is found with them, a fine can be imposed. The boys then left without wood.
The relative further said that these people were going back when some people reached into the vehicle of the Forest Department and stopped their way and started beating them.
Reacting to the incident, Rajasthan Minister Pratap Khachariyawas said that action is being taken against the accues forest officials and no one will be spared.
"The state government will provide all help to the victim's family. If the police did not take any action, then we will also take action against police..," he added.
On BJP's accusations, the minister citied Nuh violence and said, "What is BJP doing in Nuh, fire has spread across Mewat region. As per National Crime Records Bureau, law & order situation in Rajasthan is better than UP, MP, Haryana..."
Earlier, speaking over the incident, Jagram Meena, Additional SP, said that the injured were taken to the hospital and one person succumbed to death.
"We got information about mob lynching in Narol village and Police reached the spot. The accused had fled the spot. The injured were taken to hospital and one person succumbed to death during the treatment. We have taken few people into custody, and further probe is underway," Meena said.
