A major pile-up on Mumbai's Bandra-Worli Sea Link late on Thursday claimed three lives and left three injured. Around 10:15 pm, an SUV, going north of Worli towards Bandra and just 100 metres before the toll plaza, collided with a vehicle, reported news agency PTI. After colliding, rather than stopping the vehicle sped up and hit 2-3 more vehicles at the toll plaza. Six vehicles were hit in this accident in total and nine people were injured. Out of the nine, three succumbed to their injuries during treatment. Two of the injured are in critical condition at the moment, reported news agency ANI. 


Zone 9 DCP Krishnakant Upadhyay told the media about the incident and said, "Today around 10:15 pm, a vehicle was going north from Worli towards Bandra, 100 metres before the toll plaza on sea link, it collided with a vehicle. After colliding, the car sped up and hit 2-3 vehicles at the toll plaza. A total of 6 vehicles have been hit in this incident."


The DCP added, "Till now, a total of 9 people have been injured, out of which 3 people have died. 6 people are under treatment, out of which the condition of two people is critical."
