New Delhi: A man has died after being shot at during the Saraswati Puja idol procession in Bihar’s Patna on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Dhiraj Kumar. 


A police official confirmed the incident saying that the firing was done by someone from the idol immersion procession of the nearby Patna University hostel. He said that the victim was taken to hospital where he succumbed to the injury. 


Talking to the news agency ANI, Arun Singh, SHO Gandhi Maidan said, “In Bahadarpur police station area, there's a Patna University hostel. The firing was done by someone from the idol immersion procession of the hostel. One Dhiraj Kumar was shot. He was taken to PMCH where he died.” 


He said that an FIR has been registered against the unidentified accused and no arrest has been made so far. 






“Arrests are yet to be made but we are identifying the criminal elements from the procession who fired the bullet. FIR registered against unidentified accused on the basis of family's complaint,” he added.
