A woman allegedly fell into a 100-foot-deep gorge at Borne Ghat in Maharashtra's Satara district on Saturday, and was eventually rescued by the Home Guard and local residents.

While some reports say she fell while trying to take a selfie, PTI quoted a police official as saying that the woman slipped when she went to answer nature's call amid heavy rains in the region.

The video of her rescue has gone viral on social media.

After being rescued, the woman was rushed to hospital, where she is being treated for several injuries.

According to a report in India Today, following the incident, District Collector Jitendra Dudi ordered all tourist spots to be closed until Sunday.

Influencer Fell Into Gorge A Month Ago, Died

The case comes a few weeks after Aanvi Kamdar, a 26-year-old travel and lifestyle influencer, died after falling into a 300-foot gorge at Kumbhe waterfall in Maharashtra's Raigad.

An official at Mangaon police station said Aanvi, a resident of Mumbai’s Mulund area, had come to the picturesque waterfall for an outing with her friends amid rains and, while making a video of the scenic surroundings, she slipped and fell into the gorge.

Police and local rescuers reached the spot and rushed her to the nearby Mangaon Taluka government hospital, where she died during treatment.

Aanvi Kamdar was a chartered accountant by profession and a social media influencer who was known for making travel reels.

In another incident, early last month, one person died and another lost both his legs after their motorcycle met with an accident while they were taking selfies on the move on Beed bypass road. In a video, the rider and pillion can be seen smiling for selfies before the motorcycle rammed into the metal crash barrier of the road.
