Maharashtra News: A tragic incident occurred in Sewri, Mumbai, where one person died and four others sustained injuries after falling into an open drain. The mishap took place during repair work on the box drain, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), as reported by news agency ANI.






3 Dead In Another Mumbai Sewer Drain Tragedy


Meanwhile, in another incident, the death toll rose to three in an incident that took place in Mumbai's Malad suburb two days ago. Initially, two labourers lost their lives after falling into the chamber of an underground sewer. The third victim, identified as Ramlagan Chotelal Kevat, 45, succumbed to injuries on Saturday morning at a government-run hospital, bringing the total fatalities to three, news agency PTI reported.


The incident occurred at Malwani Gate number 8 on Abdul Hameed Road in the Ambujwadi area of Malad (West). The victims, Suraj Kevat (18) and Bikas Kevat (20), along with Ramlagan Chotelal Kevat, were contracted to clean the sewer drain when they fell into its chamber beneath a public toilet maintained by a contractor. Local residents managed to rescue them and rushed them to a nearby hospital for treatment, PTI's report mentioned.


An official from the Malwani police station was quoted as saying, "Based on primary information, an accidental death report (ADR) has been registered. We have not received any official complaint in this connection so far, and if we find any misconduct or wrongdoing, then we will register a case on our own. We are verifying all the facts at this stage, and further investigation is underway."
