New Delhi: A CCTV footage has gone viral on social media showing a woman babysitter beating a two-year-old boy when the child's parents were not at their home in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur. The woman babysitter, identified as Rajni Ahirwar, has been arrested, PTI quoted Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjay Agrawal as saying.
The child's parents, both of whom are government employees, became suspicious since he was frequently falling ill and had become physically weak despite there being sufficient food for him. According to media reports, the two-year-old was also taken to a doctor who told the parents that he had a swelling in his small intestine.
Following this, the parents decided to install a CCTV camera in the room where the babysitter used to stay with the child in the house.
In the camera recording, they saw the babysitter used to frequently beat the child. According to an NDTV report, in the video clip, the woman was seen slapping the child and pulling his hair.
The boy’s mother then lodged a complaint against the women at the Madhotal police station. Based on the complaint, the accused was arrested and booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, PTI reported.
The child’s parents had hired the babysitter four months ago to take care of their child in their absence, the police said. "A case has been registered and investigation is underway," police said.
