Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Kerala and Tamil Nadu from July 26 to 28, marking a politically significant tour just ten months ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. On July 26, PM Modi will attend a government event in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. He will then proceed to Tamil Nadu, where he is expected to visit Ariyalur, Perambalur, and Thanjavur districts on July 27 and 28.

PM Modi Tamil Nadu Visit

One of the key highlights of his Tamil Nadu visit is his participation in the Aadi Thiruvadhirai celebrations at Gangaikonda Cholapuram in Ariyalur district. The event, a revered occasion in the Tamil Shaivite tradition, is anticipated to draw national attention due to its cultural and spiritual significance.

Modi’s presence in the state comes at a time of growing political activity as alliance negotiations and election preparations gain momentum. The DMK-led alliance, which includes Congress, MDMK, Viduthalai Siruthaigal, CPI, and CPI(M), is showing signs of internal strain. MDMK is demanding more seats, Viduthalai Siruthaigal is seeking a role in governance and the CPI(M) has expressed discontent with DMK’s leadership. Actor Kamal Haasan’s Makkal Needhi Maiam has also joined the alliance, potentially complicating seat-sharing arrangements further.

On the other side, the AIADMK remains part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) but is projected to lead the alliance in Tamil Nadu independently. Meanwhile, Seeman’s Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) has reaffirmed its commitment to contest solo, rejecting alliance offers. Actor Vijay's newly launched Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has also ruled out partnerships with both the BJP and DMK, signaling a fresh entry into the electoral battlefield. However, it is to be seen whether there will be any last minute political alliance changes.
