The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (Secular) (JD(S)) have started the 10-day 'Mysore Chalo' padayatra from Kengeri in Bengaluru to Mysuru to protest against the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) and Valmiki Corporation 'scams'. The padayatra has been aimed at exposing corruption in the current Congress-led government in Karnataka.
Karnataka BJP General Secretary P Rajeev echoed these sentiments, stating, "The Congress government, from day one, has been engaged in corruption activities. Tax money is being used for election purposes. The whole cabinet is engaged in illegal and corrupt activities. In this situation, today we are starting our padayatra, 'Mysore Chalo.'"

Ahead of the protest, BJP State President BY Vijayendra along with his family visited Mysuru Shri Chamundeshwari temple.
Alleging that Congress government led by Siddaramaiah was the most corrupt in the history of Karnataka, BJP MP Captain Brijesh Chowta said, "In the MUDA scam, CM Siddaramaiah's family is the direct beneficiary and he doesn't even bother to put himself into an inquiry hence the BJP is demanding his resignation. This is the beginning of the end of Siddaramaiah."
"Our Padyatara begins today and we are quite confident that when the Padyatara reaches Mysuru, the Congress govt will be thrown out of Karnataka... All is not well in Congress, there are many aspirants for the CM's chair and they all know that Siddaramaiah is going to resign in a few days or be forced to resign."
He said that DK Shivakumar was probably trying to establish that he was the front-runner for the CM's face.
