Bengaluru Rains: Bengaluru witnessed heavy rainfall over the last 24 hours, with the city receiving 66.1 mm of rain as of 8:30 am on Wednesday. The downpour has caused widespread waterlogging and traffic congestion, disrupting normal life in several parts of the city. In response to the situation, many information technology, biotechnology, and private companies allowed their employees to work from home, officials confirmed.
Karnataka Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda announced that about 60 personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Karnataka State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed in the city, as per PTI. An additional 40 personnel are on standby, and Fire and Emergency Services teams are prepared for immediate action if needed.
On Wednesday, the residents of Kendriya Vihar Apartment in Yelahanka were evacuated with the help of tractor trolleys as the area was flooded.
Several videos surfaced showing waterlogging at Phoenix Mall and Manyata Tech on Tuesday.

Metro services were hit for a while on the purple line due to a tree obstruction in Bengaluru.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more heavy rain for Bengaluru and surrounding districts, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and squalls in coastal, north interior, and south interior Karnataka until October 18. Overcast conditions are expected to persist for the next few days.
"Bengaluru received unprecedented rains during this month, normally there is rain but not to this magnitude. We have taken a lot of precautionary measures, otherwise it would have been worse. A lot of flood would have happened, which was prevented," said Karnataka minister G Parameshwara, as per ANI.
