As incessant rain continues to lash the region, Gujarat is grappling with severe waterlogging and heavy rainfall. The Junathana area of Navsari has experienced extensive waterlogging, causing disruptions and inconveniences for residents. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway 48 in Navsari is also experiencing heavy traffic due to the ongoing rain. Another unfortunate incident occurred when a car was washed away in a flood in Junagadh, causing distress and concern in the local community. 





Torrential downpour in the state has triggered a flood-like situation, particularly in Junagadh and Amreli district.

Gujarat Coast On High Alert: IMD, INCOIS Issue Warning To Fishermen Against Venturing Into Sea


The India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) have issued a joint warning to fishermen residing along the coast of Gujarat, urging them to avoid venturing into the sea from July 22 to July 26. 



Additionally, a high-wave alert has been issued for a specific stretch of the Gujarat coast, extending from Jakhau in Kutch to Diu near the Saurashtra region. 



The INCOIS bulletin forecasts high waves ranging from 3.5 to 4 meters between 5:30 pm on July 21 and 11:30 pm on July 23. Moreover, the wind speed is expected to reach 40-45 kilometers per hour, with the possibility of touching 55 kmph. 


"High waves in the 3.5-4 metre range are expected from 5:30 pm on 21 July to 11:30 pm on 23 July along the Gujarat coast from Jakhau to Diu. (Sea) current speeds range from 61 to 123 cubic metres per second," according to the bulletin.


Fishermen in various locations along the north Gujarat coast, including Jakhau, Mandvi, Mundra, New Kandla, Navlakhi, Jamnagar, Salaya, Okha, and Porbandar, are advised to be cautious, according to the bulletin. The warning extends to other coastal areas such as Mul-Dwarka, Veraval, Diu, Jafrabad, Pipavav, Victor, Bhavnagar, Alan, Bharuch, Dahej, Magdalena, and Daman, it added.
