A heart-wrenching video of a man and his son ending their lives on railway tracks in Maharashtra has gone viral. The incident occurred in Palghar near the Bhayandar railway station. The CCTV footage shows the father-son duo walking on the railway tracks and then lying down on the tracks, holding hands, as a train approaches. The police are, however, nowhere near finding out the reason for the suicide.

According to news website India Today, the incident occurred at 9.30 AM on Monday. The police have identified the man and his son as Harish Mehta (60) and Jay (33) from the Vasai area.

A case of accidental death was registered and the bodies were sent for post-mortem, senior inspector Bhagwan Dange of the Vasai GRP told news agency PTI. The police have launched an investigation into the incident. The police couldn't find any suicide note at the spot or their home.

The Government Railway Police said that the duo lay down on the tracks as soon as they saw the suburban train, which had just exited the Bhayandar station, approaching. The train had no time to prevent the accident.

Kerala Man Dies By Suicide After Killing Minor Son

In another incident in May, a man from Kerala's Malappuram was found hanging from the ceiling of his Varapuzha home. Beside him was the lifeless body of his four-year-old son. According to a Times Of India report, Sharif (41) had recently moved to the rented home in Varapuzha with his son Alshifas. The rest of their family had not shifted.

Police suspected that Shareef must have hanged his son first before killing himself in the same manner. Although a suicide note was not found, the police believe a family crisis could have triggered the man to take the extreme step.
