New Delhi: Eknath Shinde Faction leader Sheetal Mhatre on Sunday lodged a case against 'morphed' video of her. "The video was posted on FB page named Matoshree with dirty songs, encouraging people to make it viral," said Sheetal.
A morphed video featuring Shiv Sena MLA Prakash Surve (Shinde faction) and party spokesperson Sheetal Mhatre has allegedly been shared online by two individuals.
Mhatre is allegedly seen kissing Surve on the cheek in the morphed video as they walk through a rally with Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde standing next to them. Sheetal Mhatre claimed that the Thackeray group and Yuva Sena were behind the video after reports of it went viral.
The two accused have been identified by the police as Tare Manas Kuwar (age 26) and Ashok Mishra (age 45). Mhatre filed a complaint at the Dahisar Police Station, which led to their arrest.
Sheetal Mhatre asserted that the Thackeray group and Yuva Sena are to blame for the viral video following reports of its distribution.
Sheetal Mhatre wrote, "If there is nothing to talk about women in politics, is it the culture of Uddhav camp to defame her? Did you not remember Balasaheb's manners while uploading such a morphed video from a Facebook page?."
She continued, "I am sure CM Shinde who is like a brother to me, will support me in this," stating that as a woman, such an act has hurt her feelings.
The Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 354 (outraging a woman's modesty), 509 (gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), and 500 (defamation) have been used to charge the arrested suspects.
The video which has been circulating via social media platforms shows Sheetal Mhatre kissing Prakash Surve on his cheek while the pair alongside other party individuals including CM Eknath Shinde were waving to a group.
