New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) on Monday arrested eight suspected terrorists belonging to Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB). Apart from Luqman, Qari Mukhtar, Kamil and Mohammad Aleem of Saharanpur, Shahzad of Shamli, Ali Noor alias Jahangir Mandal alias Inamul Haque of Bangladesh, Nawazish Ansari of Jharkhand, Mudassir of Haridwar were arrested. All material including jihadi books, pen drives, and mobiles have been recovered for terrorist intentions.






The statement issued by the UP ATS said that information was being received for the past few days that Al Qaeda Indian Sub Continent or Al Qaeda Barr e Sagir and associate organization Jamaat ul Mujahideen Bangladesh was trying to fulfill the objective of Ghazwa e Hind in the Indian subcontinent.


Uttar Pradesh Police said five of the arrested are residents of Uttar Pradesh. Besides, there are residents of Jharkhand, Haridwar and even Bangladesh. Various incriminating materials including Jihadi books, pen drives containing terrorist documents, and mobile phones were seized from them.

Earlier in August, the Uttar Pradesh ATS arrested Saifullah for his alleged links with Jaish-e-Mohammad. He was arrested from Kanpur on a tip-off provided by Mohammad Nadeem, who was arrested by the ATS from Saharanpur. According to an official release, Saifullah, also known as Habib-ul-Islam, is an expert in making virtual IDs, and he had made over 50 virtual IDs for terrorists in Pakistan and Afghanistan on WhatsApp, Telegram and Facebook. He used to send audio messages related to Jihad from these platforms.
