Heavy downpours in Himachal Pradesh's Shimla on Sunday triggered a landslide which caused massive destruction with several vehicles being buried under the debris. News agency PTI shared visuals from the site that showed vehicles stuck under trees and debris. The video also showed the blocked road. Speaking to PTI, one of the travellers whose car was also got buried said, "Around four to five vehicles got stuck under trees and debris. My car was also one of them that got stuck. This incident occurred at around 5:45 am today. During the landslide at least 15-20 trees came with the debris."






A similar incident happened last week when a 40-metre-long portion of a highway in Himachal Pradesh got washed away at the Chandigarh-Shimla NH-5 near Parwanoo in the Solan district. News agency ANI shared a visual from the site of the incident. In the shared video, a huge part of the highway was seen missing. The video also showed a number of locals being stuck on the highway as they weren't able to commute any further due to the incident.






Incessant rainfall lashed parts of Himachal Pradesh last week which triggered landslides, rockslides and roads got washed away. The Beas river also got swelled up earlier after heavy rainfall due to which the state faced a flood-like situation for days. During that time.


The Panchvaktra bridge in Mandi also got washed away last month on July 10. A portion of the national highway, along the Beas river in Himachal Pradesh's Kullu also got washed away following massive landslides during that time.
