Chhattisgarh Fire News: A massive fire erupted at a storage facility belonging to the Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited on Friday, causing extensive damage to transformers housed within the premises. The blaze, which occurred in the Gudhiyari area, led to the destruction of electrical equipment, predominantly transformers, stored at the facility. Although no casualties were reported, precautionary measures were taken, and residents living nearby were evacuated for their safety, news agency PTI reported.

A swift response was mounted, with over 10 fire tenders deployed to combat the flames, according to PTI. Additional fire tenders were summoned from nearby industries to augment the firefighting operation. Despite concerted efforts, the cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.

"A 132 KV power substation is located next to the storage facility, and efforts are to prevent the blaze from spreading there as it could affect power supply to parts of the city," an official told PTI.  Senior personnel from the district administration and police reached the spot.

Later in the day, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inspected the power distribution plant, as per news agency ANI.

Delhi Police Rescues Elderly Woman, Dog Trapped In South Delhi Flat Fire

In a separate fire incident on Thursday, the Delhi Police successfully rescued a 70-year-old woman who was on oxygen support after a fire broke out in a flat in a south Delhi multi-storey due to a spark in the air conditioner, an officer confirmed, as per news agency PTI.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) Ankit Chauhan stated that the woman, who suffered from lung disease and diabetes, was trapped inside her Triloki Colony house when it caught fire on Wednesday evening. Chauhan explained that the woman was unable to move from her bed due to a fractured hip, exacerbating her situation. She was found trapped inside a room, struggling to breathe due to the fumes, PTI's report mentioned.

While the fire was being doused, a team of police, along with the woman's son, bravely entered the room where she was trapped and safely shifted her from the engulfed room to another room, ensuring her safety.

The incident was reported at Koltla Mubarakpur Police Station at 7 pm, following which fire tenders and an ambulance were immediately dispatched to the scene. Remarkably, the police also found a dog lying unconscious on the spot and administered Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to rescue it.

The unconscious dog was later shifted to a Veterinarian Hospital in the Defence Colony area for treatment, according to the police.

"There was no loss of life due to swift action and better coordination among the fire department, police and public. The fire was extinguished, probably caused by sparking in AC," said the DCP, as reported by PTI.
