Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel's father Nand Kumar Baghel passed away on Monday morning, said the Congress leader in a post on X. The mortal remains are kept in Patan and the last rites will be performed on January 10 after Baghel's younger sister's arrival from abroad, he added.
The ex-CM's father died after a prolonged illness and had been admitted in a private hospital for over a month in November.
After the polling concluded in Chhattisgarh in November, Baghel had visited his father and enquired about his health from the doctors.
Nand Kumar was hospitalised at Raipur's Balaji Hospital on October 21 after a blod clot in his brain. He was also suffering from pneumonia and septicemia due to which he was put on ventilator, according to an ABP News report.
His health showed signs of improvement later but the doctors said his condition was still serious and worrying.
As per a medical bulletin by the doctors, Nand Kumar (89) suffered from brain and spine-related problems from a long time along with uncontrolled diabetes.
