At least two people were killed and several others were injured when a passenger bus travelling from Jaipur to Delhi caught fire near Gurugram, news agency ANI reported.


The bus was engulfed in flames, with plumes of smoke rising into the night sky, according to video footage from the scene. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.










According to Fire Department Deputy Director Gulshan Kalra, the incident occurred around 8:30 pm near the Jharsa flyover on the main carriageway connecting Delhi and Jaipur.


"Three fire engines were rushed to the spot after we received information that a sleeper bus with registration number AR 01 K 7707 had caught fire on the carriageway," the officer said in a statement to news agency PTI.


Dr Manav of Gurugram Civil Hospital confirmed that seven injured people are being treated at the facility, according to NDTV. "All injured have suffered 30 to 50 per cent burns but are stable," he said.


After learning about the incident, Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav and Gurgaon Police Commissioner rushed to the scene. 


In a pot on X (formerly Twitter), Gurugram police tweeted: "The victims injured in this accident have been admitted to the hospital. The situation is completely under control".
