New Delhi: Amid speculation of a political storm brewing in Bihar, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan on Monday claimed that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will not be able to complete his five-year tenure in the top post and a mid-term poll is likely to take place any time.

"At present, no one knows what's in store for Bihar. Even if Nitish Kumar manages to secure his seat after negotiating with the Mahagathbandhan leaders, still, he would not be able to complete his tenure till 2025. The leaders of Mahagathbandhan are over ambitious which would lead to mid-term Assembly elections," Paswan asserted, as quoted by news agency IANS.

"The moment he secures his chief minister's chair, he will execute the Paltimar plan," the LJP(R) president claimed.

JD-U national president Lalan Singh had claimed that the ruling party's vote was reduced due to what he dubbed as the "Chirag model". In a perceived reference to BJP, he alleged that a particular political party conspired against Nitish Kumar and weakened him through Chirag Paswan in the elections.

In response to the remarks, Paswan said that the Chirag model is meant for the state's development.

"We believe in "Bihar first-Bihari First". What would be the "Nitish model"? The Nitish model is meant for unemployment, flood, drought, crime, corruption, hooch tragedies, etc. JD-U leaders should clarify what is the Nitish model," Paswan commented.

He noted that in the 2020 Assembly polls, "25 lakh people adopted the Chirag model, if Nitish Kumar has an objection to it, then I want to tell him that the 13 crore people of the state are opting for it."

Chirag Paswan had given the tickets to LJP candidates only on those seats where JD-U was contesting the election, the JD-U national president claimed.

Asked about the “conspiracy”, Lalan Singh referred to the “Chirag model”, an allusion to the then LJP chief's rebellion, and claimed, “the model was again at work, we will reveal more about it at a later stage”, PTI reported.

Now, former union minister RCP Singh, who resigned from JD(U), is rumoured in touch with several MLAs and it is believed there is a possibility of BJP repeating the Maharashtra formula in Bihar.

According to sources, the meeting called by CM Nitish Kumar on Tuesday will decide the future of the ruling alliance in Bihar. There is a possibility of major political upheaval in the JD(U)-BJP-ruled state in the next 48 hours.
