After a 22-year-old student, Harsh Raj, was beaten to death by masked men at Sultanganj Law College campus in Bihar's Patna, the police have arrested the prime accused.


The investigation revealed that an altercation over a dandiya night last year was the reason behind the youngster's death.


Raj, a third-year student at BN College, had gone to Sultanganj Law College for an exam when he was attacked by masked men armed with sticks. Raj sustained critical injuries during the attack.


After being informed about the incident, the police rushed to the spot and took him to a nearby hospital. However, Raj could not survive and succumed to his injuries during the treatment.


"Harsh Raj, a third-year student of B.N. College pursuing vocational English course came to Sultanganj Law college to appear for an exam…..10-15 boys wearing masks started hitting him…Harsh Raj was admitted to the hospital, where he succumbed to injuries," City SP (East), Bharat Soni told news agency ANI.


"We are interrogating the relatives and family members…The FSL team, dog squad team and technical team have reached the spot…Based on the evidence, a proper investigation will be done," he added.






Special Investigation Team To Probe Case


In view of the incident, City SP (East) Bharat Soni said that a special investigation team has been formed by Patna Police to investigate the case


"With the coordination of all our teams, we have arrested one accused so far and other accused have been identified. Our team is also trying to make arrests by going to other districts. Another team of ours is engaged in collecting evidence...The cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem," the cop added.






Bihar minister Ashok Choudhary Condemns Patna Incident


Bihar minister Ashok Choudhary posted a photo of himself and Harsh on his X account and said that "this barbaric act cannot be condemned enough".


"I am in touch with the authorities regarding this incident. Those guilty will be arrested soon," the JDU leader said.


"We stand with the bereaved family in this hour of grief. We pray to God to grant the departed soul a place at his feet and provide strength to the family," Choudhary added.
