New Delhi: At least three people were injured after a minor explosion took place on the Bhagalpur-Jaynagar Intercity Express on Wednesday, an official said. The incident occurred outside the Samastipur railway station in Bihar.


Samastipur Railway Division DSP Naveen Kumar said that two people have been detained by the Darbhanga Government Railway Police (GRP) in connection with the incident.


"Today at 1:30 pm, the Bhagalpur-Jaynagar Intercity Express arrived here on platform no. 5. After departing near the home signal of Samastipur, a blast happened in the general compartment. Due to this, three people were injured. Two people have been detained in Darbhanga GRP related to this," Kumar told ANI.

Meanwhile, a massive fire broke out in the New Delhi-Darbhanga Express train (02570) near Etawah in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.


The fire broke out when Darbhanga Clone Special was passing through Sarai Bhopat Railway station in Uttar Pradesh. The station master stopped the train after he saw smoke in the S1 coach.


All the passengers were taken out safely and no casualty has been reported, the news agency reported.


According to the report, the fire broke out in one sleeper coach but soon engulfed three more coaches. 


"The information was received that fire broke out in Delhi-Darbhanga express train near Sarai Bhopat railway station in its last four coaches. The fire has been extinguished. There is no casualty, eight passengers sustained minor injuries and were sent to the district hospital...The train has departed from here after several checks," Etawah DM Avnish Rai told ANI.



Fire engines were rushed to the spot to douse the flames, PTI reported.
