Bengal Rain: Rail Services Hit, Multiple Trains Cancelled As Downpour Continues — Check Details

Incessant rainfall across Bengal has affected the railway services and multiple trains have been cancelled. Check list here.

After days of continuous downpour triggered by the formation of a low-pressure area, several districts in Bengal are reeling under a flood-like situation, which has thrown normal life out of gear. To add to the woes of people, rail services have also taken a hit with several trains being cancelled. At least 5,800 people were evacuated in Kalimpong, Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri and Cooch Behar districts in the northern part of the state witnessing the floods and 5,018 others were rescued in Howrah, Hooghly, Paschim Medinipur, Purulia and Bankura districts in the south, the state government said in a statement.

Here is a list of trains which have been cancelled for today and tomorrow and details of trains cancelled for a short period, as reported by ABP Ananda.

• 08017/08018 Kharagpur-Baleswar-Kharagpur MEMU Special is cancelled for today (October 4).


• 08032/08031 Bhadrak-Baleshwar-Bhadrak MEMU Special cancelled for today (4th October).


• 08064 Bhadrak-Kharagpur MEMU Special cancelled for today (October 4).


• 18037 Kharagpur-Jaipur Keonjhar Road Express cancelled for today (October 4).


• 18043 Howrah-Bhadrak Express cancelled for today (October 4).


• 18038 Jaipur Keonjhar Road-Kharagpur Express will be cancelled for tomorrow (October 5).


• 18044 Bhadrak-Howrah Express will be cancelled for tomorrow (October 5).

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has asked officials to monitor the situation and Governor CV Ananda Bose has reached the flood-affected areas to take stock of the situation. Meanwhile, the weather department has predicted heavy rainfall in the state for the next two days which might lead to the rise of water level in the hill districts of Darjeeling and Kalimpong.

Heavy to very heavy rain is very likely to occur in Birbhum, Murshidabad, Nadia, North 24 and South 24 Parganas districts in the southern part of the state till October 6, a spokesperson of the met office said. In the north, districts such as Kalimpong, Darjeeling, Uttar and Dakshin Dinajpur, Malda, Alipurduar and Coochbehar will also experience heavy rain.
