An 11-year-old boy was electrocuted in Andhra Pradesh's Kadapa town on Wednesday afternoon while returning home from school. The incident took place as his bicycle entangled in an exposed live wire, according to the CCTV footage, Another boy, riding a pillion was seriously injured in the incident.


Tanvir, 11 and Aadam, 10 were heading home from school when they came in contact with a dangling exposed live wire and collapsed on the ground while the cycle caught fire. 


The CCTV footage showed passersby rushing towards the boys to remove the wire and rescue them. Tanvir died on the spot while Aadam was shifted to hospital in a critical condition, reported NDTV. 


The people in the town are now blaming the Electricity department for negligence. 






A case has been registered by the police who have begun an investigation into the incident. According to a preliminary probe, a dish TV wire had come in contact with the live electrical wire which resulted in the tragedy, as per the NDTV report. 


Kadapa MLA Madhavi Reddy met with the family members of the victims and assured them that the government would extend all possible help to them. 


Education minister Nara Lokesh also reacted to the incident expressing shock and conveying his sympathies to the families of the two boys. He also directed officials to ensure the best possible treatment for the injured child. 


Lokesh also conveyed a word of caution to the Electricity Department saying it must be careful to ensure that such incidents do not recur. He also assured all possible assistance from the state government to the family of the child who lost his life in the incident.
