In the wake of severe flooding caused by torrential rains in Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been at the forefront of relief efforts taking steps to ensure the safety and well-being of flood-affected citizens. The CM's efforts to oversee the situation firsthand has seen him navigating floodwaters on boats and bulldozers, and even surveying a swollen waterway from a railway bridge as a train rushed past.
On Thursday, CM Naidu was seen assessing the flooding from a small railway bridge in Vijayawada, where a rivulet had transformed into a torrent due to the downpours. He was accompanied by senior officials and National Security Guard (NSG) commandos during the survey.
Suddenly, the CM had a narrow escape when a train went past him as he was walking on the Budameru railway bridge in Vijayawada, according to a report on PTI.
Standing on a narrow platform by the bridge's railing, the 74-year-old CM remained composed even as a train sped past just inches away. Despite the close encounter, Naidu appeared unfazed, maintaining his focus on the task at hand. Passengers aboard the moving train were reported to have cheered for the Chief Minister, appreciating his hands-on approach to dealing with the crisis.
Meanwhile, after unprecedented rainfall led to widespread flooding in Vijayawada, CM Naidu made several visits to the worst-hit areas to directly monitor and coordinate the relief efforts.
