Seven people have died and one has been critically injured in a road accident in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district. The injured person has been hospitalised. Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh while talking to the news agency ANI said, "Just now spoke to DC Kishtwar Dr Devansh Yadav about the unfortunate road accident at Dangduru Dam site. 7 persons dead, 1 critically injured. Injured being shifted to District Hospital Kishtwar or GMC Doda as per requirement. All possible help, as required, will be provided."


"A cruiser vehicle of Pakal Dul Project with 10 people on board, met with an accident in Kishtwar, some feared dead. Further details awaited," DC Kishtwar had earlier said.






News agency IANS cited officials as saying that the driver of a Tata Sumo taxi lost control of the wheel at Kishtwar's Chatroo following which the vehicle fell into a deep gorge killing seven occupants on the spot.


"Five others were injured in this accident. Rescue teams of police and the army shifted the injured to the hospital where attending doctors described the condition of some of them as critical," IANS quoted an official as saying.


In another recent incident, a vehicle carrying Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims overturned in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district on Sunday, killing one and injuring 14, news agency PTI reported citing police. According to officials, the vehicle was on its way to Jammu from Katra, the base camp for pilgrims visiting the shrine atop the Trikuta hills. The accident occurred on the outskirts of Katra, near Murree. The injured were transported to the hospital.
