At least four persons died while 20 were injured after a three-story rice mill building collapsed in Haryana's Karnal on the night of Monday, April 17. According to DC Karnal, around 150 workers were inside the building when the incident took place. The injured have been taken to the hospital. Around 120 labourers safely escaped from the building when it collapsed. Authorities say prima facie, the building has some defects and that legal action will be taken against the rice mill owner.






DC Karnal, Anish Yadav told ANI, "A total of 24 people have been affected out of which 20 are injured and 4 are dead. Around 150 workers were inside the building when the incident took place. The injured have been admitted to a hospital.  Prima facie we found that the building had some defects. A committee will be formed to investigate the incident. Legal action will be taken against the rice mill owners."






Karnal SP Shashank Kumar said, "We have started the rescue operation. NDRF and SDRF teams will also reach here. No one is missing now, we have cross-checked the list of workers."


A team of NDRF has also arrived at the rice mill building collapse site in Karnal, Haryana.






As per the information, the workers used to sleep inside the building. As soon as the information reached authorities, the fire brigade, police and ambulance reached the spot. Rescue operations are underway.
