The Taipei Open returns to the badminton fold after a one-year hiatus due to its suspension in concerned with the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament is going to be held from July 19 – July 24, at the Taipei Heping Basketball Gymnasium by the Chinese Taipei Badminton Association. It will be the 39th edition of the tournament since its inception in 1980. This event is the 15th tournament of the 2022 BWL World Tour.

The tournament presents a good platform for the Indian contenders to walk into the Commonwealth Games with momentum as many Indian badminton players will be in action including Saina Nehwal.

The Taipei Open will be special for players such as Mithun Manjunath, MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila, who had good showings in the recently concluded Singapore Open 2022. Saina Nehwal will also be looking to gain some momentum after her disappointing loss to Japanese Aya Ohori in Singapore Open.

The Commonwealth Games 2022 Birmingham start on July 28 and this will be the last major tournament before the global event.
