Eldhose Paul scripted history at Oregon as the 25-year-old triple jumper becomes the first ever Indian to qualify in for the event's finals at the World Athletics Championships 2022. Three Indian athletes were competing in the triple jump event and only Eldhose Paul made it through to the finals. Eldhose registered his attempts as 16.12m, 16.68m, and 16.34m as his 16.68m was enough to book his berth in the final as he finished 12th.
The other two Indians were Praveen Chithravel and Abdulla Aboobacker Narangolintevida who had decent outings but couldn’t qualify for the finals. Praveen registered attempts of 16.30m, 16.49m and Abdulla registered attempts of 15.92m, 16.45m, and 16.44m as they both finished 17th and 19th respectively.
