IND Vs SL: Veteran cricketer Rahul Dravid appeared in the role of Team India's coach for the first time on the Sri Lanka tour. There is a discussion that Rahul Dravid can soon be appointed as the head coach of Team India. Rahul Dravid himself has broken silence on becoming team India's coach after Shastri. Rahul Dravid says that he is not thinking of becoming the coach of the national team right now.

Rahul Dravid is currently the President of the National Cricket Academy. Due to Team India's head coach Ravi Shastri being in England, Rahul Dravid took over the coach's responsibility during the Sri Lanka tour. Rahul Dravid says that he has enjoyed the experience of coaching in Sri Lanka. Dravid said, "I enjoyed this experience. I haven't really thought anything far ahead."

Dravid was asked that if given a chance in future, would he want to take up the responsibility of a full-time coach? This great batsman said, "You know, to be honest with you I am happy doing what I am doing. I haven't thought of anything other than this tour."

Ravi Shastri's contract ending this year

Dravid is not thinking ahead yet. He said, "I have enjoyed the experience and I have loved working with these guys. It's been great. And no, I haven't given any other thought to anything else. There are a lot of challenges doing a full-time role, so I really don't know."

India's head coach Ravi Shastri is currently with the Indian Test team, which lost the final of the World Test Championship to New Zealand and will now play a five-match series against England. Shastri's contract is till the end of the T20 World Cup, which is to be played in UAE and Oman from October 17 to November 14. It is not yet clear whether Shastri would like to apply again as he is 59-year-old and the maximum age limit for the post of Indian coach is 60 years.
