Fans on Twitter went into a frenzy after former Sri Lankan legendary spinner Muttiah Muralitharan posted a 'comparison video' on social media featuring his son Naren.

In the video, Naren can be seen imitating his father's unique bowling action in the nets. The 'king of spin' Muralitharan, who is also the bowling coach of his son, captioned the post,"Father and Son Time! Video Credits @Sunrisers."

Muralitharan is the only bowler in the history of Test cricket to take 800 wickets and he also has the most wickets in the longest format of cricket. Recently, Star Sports named Muralitharan as the greatest bowler of the 21st century.

The spin legend played the last match of his international career in the final of the 2011 World Cup. Muralitharan picked 534 ODI wickets before retiring from the 50-overs format after 2011 World Cup. With the T20 format getting prominence towards his twilight years, he has 13 wickets from 12 T20Is and was also part of Sri Lanka's ODI World Cup-winning squad in 1996.

The 49-year-old had undergone angioplasty during IPL 2021.

The former cricketer is doing fine after the procedure and it is being reported that this was a planned process and not an emergency one.

Post-retirement, Muralitharan has remained active in the IPL and has been part of Sunrisers Hyderabad coaching staff since 2015.

Reacting to the ongoing crisis in Sri Lankan cricket, Muralitharan had lashed out at four of the Lankan cricketers for their issues related to national contract with Sri Lankan Cricket. “This year we think they don’t need a central contract, we can go with tour contracts,” he had said in an interview.
