Former West Indies captain Brian Lara turned 51 on Saturday and wishes poured in from all corners of the world for the 'prince' who is widely rated as the greatest batsmen to ever have walked on earth.

Cricketing legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Rahul Dravid and so on, wished Lara on the occasion.

The ICC took to Twitter to revisit a "classic from the Prince" and asked fans to rate their favourite Brian Lara innings. The video ICC posted is of Lara scoring crucial 111 runs off 94 balls to help Windies qualify for the semis of theΒ 1996 World Cup.

"It's Brian Lara's birthday, but this gem of an innings is a gift for all of us. From the archives, a classic from the Prince in the 1996 @cricketworldcup. His 111 from 94 balls against South Africa carried West Indies to the semi-final," ICC captioned the video.


India batsman K.L. Rahul tweeted: "Happy Birthday #legend @BrianLara Have a good one"


Shikhar Dhawan also wished Lara on the occasion.

"Happy birthday to the legend, the Prince of Trinidad & Tobago and a great human being @BrianLara Hope you have a beautiful year ahead and soon we'll do our dance lessons," said Dhawan


Indian Premier League side Royal Challengers Bangalore also wished Lara a happy birthday. "Lara, Kya Mara - if you relate to this phrase, then your childhood was awesome. Here's wishing the stylish West Indian legend @BrianLara a very Happy Birthday!" said RCB.
