New Delhi: Amid the rapidly rising coronvirus pandemic which has forced government and global health bodies to take preventive measures to safeguard citizens against the alarming health hazard, Indian cricketers are leaving no stone upturned to urge fellow countrymen to take all necessary precautions to prevent the spread of this novel virus.

Ajinkya Rahane posted a video on twitter with a message urging all citizens to stay strong and take precuations to avoid the spread of COVID19.


Giving his take on how to contain the spread of the novel virus, India's Test team vice captain Ajinkya Rahane said, " It is time to follow instructions of the health authorities and we must make a habit of washing hands and don't go out of house unless an urgent requirement comes. The India Test specialist added that the frustrating time which everyone is facing due to the coronavirus threat shall be over soon.

Amid the coronavirus threat looming large all over the nation, cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar on Wednesday appealed to fellow countrymen to act responsibly and follow the guidelines issued by the health authorities in the wake of the ongoing pandemic.

"As citizens, we have to act responsibly. We could follow simple steps to keep the coronavirus at bay. It is my request to everyone to follow basic guidelines to try our best to ensure we all stay safe," Tendulkar tweeted.

The onspread of the coronavirus has led to the cancellation and postponment of many major international sporting events like the Euro 2020, Copa America and French Open and dark clouds are looming large over whether the Tokyo Olympics slated to be held later this year. The ICC, BCCI and other apex cricket boards have cancelled, re-scheduled or postponed all major tournaments keeping in mind the safety of players.
