New Delhi: MS Dhoni is not your typical cricketer. He is different. He is unorthodox. He is street smart. Be it in front of the stumps or behind them, India's limited-overs skipper plays by his own rules. And he has proved that on multiple occasions.

For those who needed another reminder of his genius, Dhoni proved it in a real match situation.

His new team Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) was playing against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at Mohali on Sunday. It was a crucial match as RPS had lost the previous match.

The incident happened in the 9th over the match. KXIP batsman Manan Vohra was batting and he looked to guide a ball by left-arm spinner Ankit Sharma down the third man. Since Dhoni's hands were behind the ball to collect it if the batsman missed or edged the ball, he stuck out his right leg to stop the shot and prevented it from running to the boundary.

It was a brilliant display of anticipation and presence of mind that saved four runs for his team.

Though Pune Supergiants lost the match, Dhoni earned praises for his innovation and street smartness.
