New Delhi: The BCCI appointed Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) on Monday put the announcement on India’s new coach on hold. The CAC members interviewed short-listed candidates from BCCI headquarters in Mumbai but couldn't come to a conclusion till evening despite the completion of the interview process.

Addressing  a press conference, CAC Chariman Sourav Ganguly said, “We are looking at a longer run, not just looking at Sri Lanka tour. We want everybody to be on the same page, synchronize the way forward.”

“The CAC wants to talk to few people, especially the captain before we make an announcement. Virat also needs to know how coaches would function, “Ganguly added.

Ganguly’ statement indicates that Virat Kohli will have to choose one between Virender Sehwag and Tom Moody.  Sehwag's interview process was a two-hour long one.

It is also likely that India will Travel to Sri Lanka without a new coach.

The newly appointed coach will work with the Indian cricket team till the ICC cricket World Cup in 2019.

The position became vacant after Anil Kumble decided to step down following a rift with Virat Kohli.
