The T20 World Cup is being organized after five years. The previous tournament was played in India, where West Indies emerged as champions for the second time. Earlier, T20 World Cup was scheduled to be played in India, but due to the Covid-19 epidemic, it was shifted to UAE and Oman but still is being hosted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

This time a total of 16 teams are participating in this marquee event. Before the start of the tournament, there will be an eight-nation qualifying tournament, which will start from September 23. It also includes teams from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Ireland. Out of this, four teams will qualify for the Super-12 stage.
