Singapore Open 2022: PV Sindhu advances to the semi-finals in the Women's Singles event of the Singapore Open 2022 on Friday after her comeback victory over Han Yue of China 17-21, 21-11, 21-19. Sindhu went a game down after Han Yue had her shots luckily won via striking the net. However, in a Deja Vu of Round 2, Sindhu made a comeback after going a game down as her smashing prowess was witnessed and Han Yue succumbed under pressure.


Sindhu will face either Shaena Kawakami or Pornpawee Chochuwong in the semi-finals of the Women's Singles event of Singapore Open 2022, to be played on July 16, 2022.




PV Sindhu, ranked seventh in the badminton world rankings, is coming off a comfortable Round 1 victory over Belgian Lianne Tan 21-15, 21-11. In Round 2, she earned a hard-fought victory in her match of Women’s Singles match against Thuy Linh Nguyen of Vietnam 19-21, 21-19, 21-18. The match lasted for one hour and six minutes.



Probably the biggest Indian badminton player in contention for the title at this year’s Singapore Open, PV Sindhu kept hopes alive and also avenged the defeat of her compatriot Ashmita, by knocking out Han Yue.


Meanwhile, Olympic bronze medallist Saina Nehwal with a sensational win over Chinese world number 9 He Bing Jiao on Thursday entered the quarterfinals of the Singapore Open.


Saina, the two-time Commonwealth Games gold winner, prevailed 21-19, 11-21, 21-17 over the fifth-seeded Chinese to make the last eight stage. It will be her first appearance in the quarterfinals of a Super 500 event in over two and a half years. She will meet Japan's Aya Ohori next.
