New Delhi: Bangladesh cricket team's star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan on Sunday scripted history by becoming the highest wicket-taker in the men's T20 International cricket. He attained the mega milestone in the ongoing Scotland vs Bangladesh T20 World Cup match after taking the wicket of Scotland's Michael Leask.
Shakib Al Hasan surpassed Lasith Malinga's tally of 107 T20 wickets to become world's highest wicket-taker in T20 cricket. Earlier this year, Shakib had completed his 100 T20 International wickets against Australia and now he has 108 wickets from 89 T20 matches. He is the first cricketer in world to take 100 wickets along with scoring 1000 runs in T20 International cricket.
New Zealand's Tim Southee (99), Pakistan's Shahid Afridi (98) and Afghanistan's Rashid Khan (95) are among the top wicket-takers in T20 cricket.
Shakib Al Hasan is ranked second in the all-rounder ranking of T20 cricket, while he occupies the first place in ODI cricket. Apart from this, he is also the highest wicket-taker for Bangladesh in ODI cricket, leaving behind Mashrafe Mortaza.
He is already the highest wicket-taker for Bangladesh in all three formats. Shakib also is among the list of four all-rounders who have scored 6000 runs in ODI cricket along with taking 250 wickets.
Talking about Scotland vs Bangladesh T20 World Cup match, Shakib gave only 17 runs in his four overs and took two wickets. Apart from him, Mehndi Hasan took the highest three wickets for 19 runs and helped his team restrict Scotland to just 140 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Chris Greaves scored the maximum 45 runs for Scotland.
