In a spine chilling video shared on social media, Sundar’s car was seen in flames beside a tree as onlookers failed to reach out for help because of fire and explosions.
According to police both Ashwin and his wife died on spot as they failed break free from the car before it caught fire.
The 27-year-old racer was driving above speed limit when the incident occurred around 3.30 am on Saturday morning, police confirmed.
The bodies were recovered and sent to the Royapettah Hospital for postmortem.
Aswin is a two time national F4 champion and was also a part of German racing team Ma Con Motorsport.
