Vinesh Phogat has been hospitalised in Paris due to dehydration following her disqualification from the women’s 50kg freestyle wrestling final at the Olympics 2024 on August 7, as per several media reports. Despite making it to the final, she was disqualified for being 100 grams overweight. Reports reveal that the 29-year-old wrestler took extreme measures to meet the weight requirement, including skipping meals and restricting her water intake. This led to severe dehydration and the need for medical attention. Currently, Vinesh is resting and stable in the polyclinic at the Olympic Village.

Vinesh Phogat had made history as the first Indian woman wrestler to reach the gold medal match on Tuesday night. However, her disqualification on the next morning has dashed her hopes of securing at least a silver medal, leaving her with no medal to take home.
