His stellar performance in the final took India's gold medal tally to three and the overall medal count to 14.
He set a new Paralympic record twice on Monday. In a stellar performance, Sumit surpassed his Tokyo record of 68.55 metres, a throw which earned him a gold medal at the Tokyo games, with a first throw of 69.11 metres. The Indian star, turning the beast mode on, celebrated immediately after releasing the javelin, which landed at an impressive distance, securing him an early lead in the competition.

Antil then set a new record, surpassing the 70-metre mark with an astonishing 70.59-meter throw on his second attempt, giving him a massive lead over his competitors. His third throw measured 66.66 metres.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka's Dulan Kodithuwakku secured the silver medal with a throw of 67.03 metres and Australia's Michael Burian claimed bronze with a distance of 64.89 metres. India's other Javelin throwers Sandeep Chaudhary finished fourth with a throw of 62.80 metres and Sandip Sanjay Sargar finished 7th with his last throw of 56.30 metres and he finished with a best of 58.03m.
