Neeraj Chopra, Paris Olympics silver medallist, expressed support for Vinesh Phogat, emphasising that securing a medal would be well-deserved but he also urged the countrymen that even if she doesn't win a medal, people should not forget what she has done. Vinesh challenged her disqualification from the Paris Olympics 2024 and brought the appeal before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). She appealed for a joint silver medal, since she already qualified for the final when she was ruled out of the bout for exceeding the permissible weight limit by 100 grams.

Neeraj Chopra, who won a silver medal for India in the Javelin throw event on August 8, expressed support for Vinesh, emphasising that securing a medal would be good but he also noted that even if she doesn't win a medal, people should not forget what she has done. He noted that while achievements are celebrated briefly, a lack of medals can lead to being forgotten, urging people to remember Phogat's contributions regardless of the outcome.

"Everyone knows that if she wins the medal, it will be great. She would have earned it if this situation hadn't occurred. When we win medals, people remember us and call us champions, but if we don't, they tend to forget us. I just want to ask everyone not to forget what Vinesh has done for the country," Neeraj said while talking to the media on August 10.
