New Delhi: T20 cricket is the youngest format of cricket yet we have seen so many innovations by cricketers. And the ongoing Caribbean Premier League T20 has given us another one.


West Indies batsman Lendl Simmons was seen batting with just one pad on. The never-before-seen sight happened during a CPL T20 match between Guyana Amazon Warriors and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots on a slow, turning pitch at the Providence Stadium.

Though Simmons came in to bat with both the pads on, he removed the pad in his right leg after the 12th over and continued to bat like that even against fast bowlers, until he was dismissed in the last over. He decision to remove one pad was, probably, aimed at being able to run faster and convert singles into doubles.

Ironically, Simmons got run out after completing his 50 in the 20th over. He took 60 balls to complete the half-century.
