Neeraj Chopra Statement: Neeraj Chopra showed a strong outing at the Lausanne Diamond League 2024 as he finished second in Men's Javelin throw event. The Indian athlete was struggling at first, but ended up clutching when he needed it the most, as his final attempt saw him register 89.49m which was enough to seal a silver medal win.

"The feeling wasn’t great at first, but I´m happy with my throw, especially the second (career) best throw on my last attempt. It was a tough start, but the comeback was really nice and I enjoyed the fighting spirit I showed. Even though my early throws were around 80-83m, I pushed hard in the last two attempts finishing strong. Competing at this high level, it’s important to stay mentally tough and fight through," said Neeraj Chopra after the conclusion of his event.

What Next For Neeraj Chopra?


Neeraj Chopra has all but secured his berth in the final of the Men's Javelin Throw in the Diamond League which will be held in Brussels. The 26-year-old is currently third in the rankings with 14 points, and can miss the Zurich event to avoid extensive workload, with him carrying few fitness issues this year.


After winning the silver medal at Paris Olympics 2024, Neeraj Chopra mentioned that he requires a surgery and injuries to nurse to prepare for World Championship in 2025, which will be held in Tokyo (the same place where Neeraj Chopra won the iconic Gold medal in Olympics back in 2021).
