Mohammed Siraj Warwickshire debut: BCCI on Monday announced a 15-member team for the T20 World Cup 2022, starting next month in Australia. Fast bowler Mohammad Siraj is not named in this squad as he mostly features for the national team in red-ball cricket and One-Day-Internationals. The star seamer made a stunning county debut for Warwickshire. Siraj, in his maiden county appearance, took five wickets for 82 runs in his first innings against Somerset at Edgbaston on Tuesday. During this, Siraj bagged wickets of Imam-ul-Haq, George Bartlett, James Rave, Lewis Gregory and Josh Davy. His remarkable spell restricted Somerset's first innings to just 219 runs.
In the post-match presser, Siraj said he was working on hitting the right lengths consistently, rather than worrying about getting wickets.
"In West Indies and England also I bowled well, my rhythm was good in the first match as well, so my plan was to hit an area consistently without worrying whether I will get wickets or not," Siraj said in the post-match press conference.
Asked if he had made any changes for white-ball cricket, Siraj said: "I just kept belief on myself, because ups and downs are part of everyone's life, so I just kept belief that I can do it no matter if it is a white ball or red ball.
Talking about Siraj's record in international cricket, the seamer has so far played 13 Tests, 10 ODIs and 5 T20 Internationals for India. In Test cricket, Siraj has taken 40 wickets with a career-best performance of five wickets for 73 runs. In ODIs, Siraj has taken 13 wickets at an average of 31.07 and five wickets in T20 Internationals.
