LIVE SCORE | INDIA VS ENGLAND | 2ND T20I
NAGPUR
FULL SCORECARD
England's start was shaky as Nehra sent the openers back to the hut off consecutive deliveries. Morgan too struggled in his short stay at the crease. But Ben Stokes, who got a reprieve as he was dismissed off a no ball, played an aggressive knock of 38 runs off 27 balls. But as soon as he got out, Bumrah stood up to help India level the series.
With 8 runs needed off the last over, he kept his nerves in check to dismiss Root on the first ball itself. From there on, he made clever variations to make Jos Buttler's life difficult only to castle him on the fourth ball. End overs have cost India matches a many times, but not on this occasion. He bowled 9 dots in his last two overs. Virat Kohli must be mighty impressed with the youngster.
Jasprit Bumrah is the man of the moment. When he came back into the attack, England needed 41 off 30 balls. The odds were in the visitors' favour. But one ball after another one, he bowled the slower deliveries to snatch the match away from Eoin Morgan and Co. The 18th over really did the trick for India, where Bumrah bowled four dot balls and almost scalped Joe Root's wicket off the last delivery.
Jasprit Bumrah to Moeen Ali, Well bowled, Bumrah! INDIA WIN BY 5 RUNS! Slower one outside off, Moeen Ali cannot put bat to ball and that is it. Bumrah has his arms afloat to celebrate the win. What an over from Jasprit Bumrah, he conceded just 2 runs off the over. He ends with figures of 4-0-20-2 with 14 dot balls. India level the T20I series 1-1!
Jasprit Bumrah to Chris Jordan, Slower one outside off, Jordan fails to connect with his slog. They cross for a bye as Dhoni fails to hit the stumps. 6 needed in 1 ball now.
6 off 2 now. What a match!
Jasprit Bumrah to Jos Buttler, OUT! Timber! Bumrah keeps it on the stumps, Buttler looks to give himself room to drag it through mid-wicket but fails to make any contact and hears the death rattle. Bumrah is pumped up and rightly so. Buttler was not picking the slower one and by the time he picked this one, it was too late.
OUT! BOWLED! Remember the name. It's BUMRAH. He castles Buttler for 15 and it's come down to 7 off 2

Ashish Nehra to Jos Buttler, FOUR! Vital boundary! Nehra follows Buttler who was moving across. He gets it through square leg for a boundary. That should relieve the pressure on Buttler.

Nehra goes up and the umpire reciprocates positively. Stokes is upset, India is happy! Important breakthrough. 28 runs needed off 19 balls. Can India strike once more to build more pressure?

Amit Mishra to Ben Stokes, DRAMA! Stokes is bowled off a no ball! Stokes is beaten all ends up! Bowls it on off, the ball spins away at the last moment and Stokes is beaten on his back foot. The ball goes onto hit the stumps and Stokes is completely taken aback. He is asked by the umpire to wait as they check for the no ball. And replays are not what Mishra would want to see, he has overstepped a long way and Stokes gets a break.
Amit Mishra to Eoin Morgan, OUT! Mishra strikes at last for India! How many times have seen a batsman get out afte a drinks break! Mishra bowls the off-spinner on the stumps, Morgan looks to go over long on but gets it off the top half of the bat. Ashish Nehra to Jason Roy, OUT! Two in two for Nehra! Bowls this one on a length on the stumps, Roy looks to punch it through mid-wicket but the extra bounce means he is beaten on it and the ball lobs towards mid on. Suresh Raina makes no mistake and India now have two in two. Ashish Nehra was hit around in the first game but has begun well today, he is on a hat-trick.
OUT! Two in two for Nehra. First Billings now Jason Roy, both the openers dismissed. England 22/2
Ashish Nehra to Sam Billings, OUT! Nehra strikes! Shorter in length on the stumps, Billings comes down the wicket to have a go at it with a pull shot. England: 22/0. Sam Billings 12 (8), Jason Roy 10 (10)
ENGLAND begin their chase
The last over couldn't have been more miserable for India, just the five runs and three wickets. Looking at the scoreboard, England would be the happier sie. But the chase won't be a walk in the park given the long boundaries and the assistance for spin. It goes without saying that early wickets would be crucial for the hosts. Join us in a bit for the chase.
Hard to predict what exactly Indian skipper Kohli was speaking, but he was seen suggesting something to Jasprit Bumrah during the innings break. Maybe asking him to understand a thing or two from the English bowlers. Jordan stood out with his spell of 4-0-22-3 along with Ali who chipped in with another tight spell. England once again bowled to their plans and managed to keep India in check all the while.
A similar story to the one in Kanpur, though the deck assisted the bowlers a lot more than it did there. Lots of slower balls, tight bowling by Moeen Ali and poor shots by India. Virat Kohli gave the side some momentum with his 15-ball 21. But as soon as he departed, the runs dried up owing to Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh's struggle against spin. However, KL Rahul, going through a lean patch, calmed things down and scored boundaries at regular intervals. Though a couple of them were lucky, India won't mind that.
What a fantastic last over! Three wickets falling. India end their innings at 144/8
Chris Jordan to MS Dhoni, OUT! Dhoni departs! Jordan bowls it outside off on a fuller length, Dhoni goes for the big shot over cover but only manages to drag it back onto the stumps. Jordan is pumped up and why not. England have done superbly to restrict India to a score of 144/8!
Chris Jordan to MS Dhoni, OUT! Another one sacrifices himself! Dug in short on the stumps, Dhoni pulls it hard through square leg. They have to come back for the second. Amit Mishra is caught way short of his crease as Moeen Ali's throw is accurate and Jordan does the rest.
Chris Jordan to Hardik Pandya, OUT! Unfortunate for Pandya! Jordan spears it full on the stumps, Pandya hits it dead straight and hits the stumps at the non-striker's end. Dhoni had run already as expected, Jordan fields the ball and runs Pandya out, uprooting the stumps. An unfortunate way to go but England won't mind it. India may not as well with Dhoni back on strike?
INDIA: 129/4. Manish Pandey 21 (22), MS Dhoni 2 (2)
Overs: 18
Chris Jordan to Lokesh Rahul, OUT! Rahul cannot believe it. Slower one, around off, Rahul had picked up the cutter and was looking to heave it over deep mid-wicket. He couldn't connect it and there wasn't any elevation too. Stokes takes a sitter there. The cutters and slower ones finally give results to England.
OUT! Rahul departs for a well made 71 off 47. India 125/4
INDIA: 108/3. K L Rahul 62 (40), Manish Pandey 11 (13)

Adil Rashid to Suresh Raina, OUT! Raina holes out! Rashid bowls the googly on the stumps, Raina looks to go for the hoick but has not hit it well at all. Jordan gets under the ball at long on and takes the catch. Vital wicket for England and Rashid. India need to ensure they do not lose the momentum here.
OUT! Rahsid strikes for England. Raina goes for 7

INDIA: 46/1. K L Rahul 21 (16), Suresh Raina 3 (5)

Chris Jordan to Virat Kohli, OUT! Virat Kohli departs! Jordan bowls it slower outside off, Kohli is too early into the shot. He has to reach out for it, he wants to go over cover but ends up chipping it in the air towards mid on. Dawson gets under the ball and pouches it safely. End of a small but worthy cameo from the India captain. The ploy worked for England to bowl slower one early and England have the big fish early.
OUT! The slower ball does the trick again for England. They have got Kohli for 21. India 30/1
INDIA: 30/0. Virat Kohli 21 (14), K L Rahul 9 (10)

Tymal Mills to Virat Kohli, FOUR! Tries the cutter but spills it down the leg side, Kohli gets across and flicks it through backward square leg for a boundary.
Tymal Mills to Virat Kohli, SIX! Take your hat off to this shot! Mills bowls it outside off on a length, Kohli just stands tall, punches this one, on the up over the long off fence for a maximum. Mills cannot believe it, well he can ask Woakes how it feels but that was just a shot of beauty from Virat Kohli! Not many have hit Mills for a six in his short career so far and that was special.
INDIA: 15/0. Virat Kohli 8 (9), K L Rahul 7 (9)
Overs: 3
Tymal Mills to Virat Kohli, FOUR! Short delivery, outside off, Kohli instantly went for the pull and miscued. All the Indian fans must have had a lump as the ball sailed towards third man. The fielder made a diving effort but it was too far away from him. Excellent effort by Billings though.
