Australia won't be complaining though, they will want to first wipe out the trail of 149 runs and bat big in their first innings to really put India under serious pressure. The home team has talked a lot but it is yet to walk it and the series might be gone before they realize. An important day for the hosts tomorrow, there is a lot at stake

The Indians then were wayward trying too hard to strike with the ball. They are a long way behind, not just in this game but also in the series. They have lacked the intensity to strike back when pushed into a corner. They had someone stepping up for them against New Zealand, England but have been found wanting against Australia, who came well prepared.

That is as a good a day Australia would have wanted to have! They lost the toss yet managed to bowl India out and having done so in little over two sessions should please them the most. Nathan Lyon made most of the bounce and turn on offer and ran through the Indian batting line-up taking 8/50.

Australia 40/0 (Warner 23, Renshaw 15) at stumps on Day 1, in reply to India's 189

There is nothing much to write about the Indian batting apart from KL Rahul, he too was dropped twice in the innings. India were either caught trying to hit out the spinners or going into their shell trying to defend, defend and defend. All is not lost though, the pitch is offering help to the bowlers but India will have to bowl really well to stay in the game here. Join us in a while to see how they go.

#WICKET Nathan Lyon to Ishant Sharma, OUT! Lyon has 8 wickets! Lands it outside off, Ishant comes forward to defend but ends up clipping it straight off his pads to leg slip who takes the catch easily. Ishant Sharma departs for a duck but those are superb figures for Nathan Lyon, 22.2-4-50-8! India bowled out for 189!

#WICKET Nathan Lyon to Lokesh Rahul, OUT! Rahul departs in bizarre fashion as Lyon has 7! Floats it outside off, Rahul looking for the big shot is beaten in the air. The ball lobs in the air towards mid off where the fielder, Renshaw gets under it and pouches it safely. Rahul walks back disappointed, he has missed out on his ton here. Lyon is all smiles as he has taken seven wickets in this Test, his best in Tests!

#WICKET Steve O'Keefe to Karun Nair, OUT! Karun Nair is sold down the river by Steve O'Keefe! Floats it slowly outside off, lures Karun Nair into the push through covers. The batsman obliges with a stride but is beaten in the air. The keeper collects the ball and whips the bails off in a flash. That was superbly done by the bowler and an enterprising innings from Karun Nair comes to an end.

#WICKET Lyon to Ajinkya Rahane, OUT! The risk goes against Rahane, this time! Lands it outside off, Ajinkya comes down the wicket to have a go at it. He misses it completely. The keeper fumbles a touch but recovers in time to disturb the stumps. The batsman is lying on the ground, wondering what went wrong. He had connected with one previously but this time he was beaten and stumped. India are in doldrums, trying to fathom, what is the best way to counter spinners on this deck. An unusual scenario for this Test team.

#WICKET  Nathan Lyon to Virat Kohli, OUT lbw b Nathan Lyon. India have lost their third wicket.

Third Test fifty for KL Rahul

The players are back out in the middle. Virat Kohli is the new man in. He will join KL Rahul at the crease. The Australians will be delighted and pumped up with the wicket of Pujara. Nathan Lyon to complete his over...

Day 1 Session 2

Rahul has been living dangerously in the middle and the visitors are imposing pressure on the hosts. It would need a couple of good partnerships from the home team as they look to stabilize the ship. Australia, on the other hand, will want to keep picking up wickets to trouble the opposition. Join us in a short while for the post lunch session which would be a very important one in the context of the game.

A session dominated by the Aussies where they kept bowling probing lengths throughout the first session. Starc started off really well as he sent back Mukund in his very second over by bowling a low full toss. Rahul and Pujara stuck in the middle and kept ticking where the former did bulk of the scoring. Just when it was looking like that the Indians would bounce back in it with a stable partnership, Lyon struck just in time before lunch to send Pujara back in the pavilion.

#WICKET Nathan Lyon to Cheteshwar Pujara, OUT! A soft dismissal! Lyon lands it outside off, the ball once again bounces and spins in sharply. Pujara gets an inside edge which lobs towards short leg off his pads. Peter Handscomb takes the catch and appeals. Pujara started walking and that is soft dismissal really. There was a pattern developing and this time Pujara got an inside edge which was gobbled by the fielder. So a big wicket for Australia, it tilts the session in favour of the visitors.

20 overs: India 51/1. KL Rahul 38(70), Cheteshwar 11(42)

10 overs: India 20/1. KL Rahul 18(32), Cheteshwar 1(20)

5 overs: India 15/1. KL Rahul 15(16), Cheteshwar Pujara 0(7)

#WICKET Mitchell Starc to Abhinav Mukund, OUT! Mukund departs on a duck! Full toss on the pads, Mukund tries to clip it on the leg side. He is beaten by the pace completely as the ball hits him on the pads. The players appeal in unison and the umpire has ruled it out. Mukund has a talk with Rahul but the latter is unimpressed about the idea of a review. Starc draws first blood in this encounter. India have lost their first wicket.

The Indians have a new opening pair in the middle as KL Rahul and Abhinav Mukund walk out to the pitch. It will be a crucial session of cricket as both teams would look to impose themselves. Mitchell Starc will begin the proceedings with the ball for Australia. Three slips in place for him. Here we go...

Hello everyone and welcome to the coverage of the 2nd Test between India and Australia at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. What we are about to witness today is why the game of cricket is so popular between us - Australia are going into a Test in India with a 1-0 lead. It does not matter if the fans, selectors, experts of the game give you a chance or not, the game does. Australia made the most of it and caught India napping in the first Test of the series. The pitch again will be the one in question as it looks for now like a turner which may be a better wicket to bat on than the one at Pune.

TOSS

India skipper Virat Kohli has won the toss and elected to bat first against Australia in the second Test match at Bengaluru.

Stung by the humiliating defeat in the series-opener, India will aim to start the second Test on high and add big total on the board.

Two changes for the Indian side, Abhinav Mukund gets his chance as Murali Vijay is ruled out due to shoulder injury while Karun Nair comes in for Jayant Yadav.

However, the visitors have named unchanged squad that defeated India in the opening Test match.
