Two-time Olympic medallist, PV Sindhu lost in the semi-final of the Korea Open to second seed An Seyoung by 14-21, 17-21. It was a closely fought contest as PV Sindhu came as close as 17-18 in the second set. 


An Seyoung of South Korea prevailed as she secured the last four points of the match with two smashes and two drops. The Korean kept her composure at the last moment. Despite taking a 3-0 lead in the second set, Sindhu gave it away as the South Korean came back strongly. 


In the closing moments of the match, Sindhu grabbed off three points on a trot to keep the match alive but An Seyoung smashed one away from the backhand of PV Sindhu, who went to net next to gift three match points to the Korean.






Sindhu, the Swiss Open Champions had won her quarter-final against Thailand's Busanan Ongbamrungphan 21-10 21-16. 


India's hopes now lie on Kidambi Srikanth who will face Jonatan Christie of Indonesia in his semi-final that is slated to begin at 10:30 am IST. India's women's doubles team, Ashwini and Sikki also lost in the quarter-final in a closely fought contest. They were defeated 19-21, 17-21. 






It has been a disappointing couple of matches from India's point of view.
