New Delhi: 1983 World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev on Friday took the internet by storm. The former India skipper has featured in an advertisement for CRED, a credit card management platform. The advertisement starring the legend showed him in many avatars as he imitates Bollywood megastar Ranveer Singh and his 'unique' fashion style. In the hilarious viral ad, the 62-year-old legend can also be seen playing cricket in 'Ranveer Singh way'.

Kapil Dev took to Twitter to post the video and wrote," Heads, I'm fashionable. Tails, I'm still fashionable."

It is not the first time that the new tech startup has launched sports personalities in their ads. Earlier, stars like Neeraj Chopra, Rahul Dravid, Venkatesh Prasad, jagval Srinath, Maninder Singh and Saba Karim have featured in some viral CRED ads which garnered immense limelight.

Until recently, only film stars and top cricketers were engaged for product marketing in India, but after the entry of star athletes such as Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu and others, things have changed.

In September, CRED introduced to the world the never-seen-before avatar of gold-medal winning javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, who created history by winning the first-ever athletics gold medal for the country in Tokyo Olympics 2020.

The viral commercial showed how people from different fields are looking to capitalise on the success of Neeraj Chopra. The star javelin thrower himself played different characters in the ad.
